Cheers terms of use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

These are the terms for using Cheers, an app for logging the drinks you have and sharing them with your friends. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Cheers.

Cheers is run by Alex Pearson, based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@cheers-drinks.co.uk.

1. Who can use Cheers

You must be 18 or over, and old enough to drink alcohol legally where you live. You must give your real birthday when you sign up. We may close any account we believe belongs to someone under 18.

2. Your account

3. What you post

What you post is yours: your photos, ratings, notes and comments. By posting it, you give us permission to store it and show it to your friends on Cheers, which is what the app is for. That permission ends when you delete the post or your account.

You're responsible for what you post. Only post photos and words you have the right to share.

4. Rules for everyone

Don't use Cheers to:

5. Reporting, blocking and what we do about it

You can report a person, a post or a comment in the app, and you can block anyone. We look at reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours.

If someone breaks these terms, we may remove what they posted, and suspend or close their account. For serious cases we may do so without warning. If you think we've got a decision wrong, email hello@cheers-drinks.co.uk.

6. The AI label reader

Cheers can read a drink's label from a photo and fill in its name and type for you. It can get things wrong. Nothing is saved until you've checked it and confirmed.

Details such as a drink's strength (ABV) are there for your own record. Don't rely on Cheers for anything where the exact figure matters, such as deciding whether you're safe to drive. If in doubt, check the label.

There's a daily limit on label reads per person.

7. Drinking responsibly

Cheers is a diary and a way to share what you enjoy. It isn't health advice, and it doesn't encourage you to drink more. If you're worried about your drinking, Drinkaware (drinkaware.co.uk) offers free advice, and your GP can help.

8. The app itself

Cheers, its design and its name belong to us. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy it, take it apart, or build something else from it.

Cheers is free to use.

9. If things go wrong

We work to keep Cheers running and your log safe, but we provide it "as is". We can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and we may change or withdraw features.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law says it can't be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nor do they affect your legal rights as a consumer.

Beyond that, because Cheers is free, we aren't liable for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for losses connected to a business.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using Cheers and delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms. If we ever close Cheers down altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Cheers after that, you accept the new terms.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts.

13. Apple's and Google's terms

If you got Cheers from the App Store or Google Play, their terms apply to the download too. These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and they aren't responsible for the app or for supporting it.
